As a Santa Barbara based painter and photographer, I am fortunate to explore California’s coastline as part of my lifestyle, absorbing art and photography inspiration that is revealed in this great outdoors. It is not unusual for my journeys to venture from hiking along the mountain ridges then down to the shoreline where vertical cliffs present a radical entry into the cool waters of the Pacific. The jagged grand scale of these rocky heights are a beautiful backdrop for the seagulls, pelicans and occasional eagles navigating the various trees and extreme outcroppings of stone while flying through the invisible shift of wind. I have always had a fascination for flight, witnessing the precision and grace of birds as they neatly drop down to the beach tide pools and wet sand, and the local bridges and piers, all with phenomenal flight and landing accuracy. From the earliest part of day to the last light of sunset, nature’s raw palette of colors adds to the magic of these moments, an alliance of soulful luminosity that endlessly informs my art and photography choices. And, I get to check the ocean energy, paying attention to swell and wind direction, tide activity, and water temperature.. always with the idea of carving out time for my fitness and well being with a paddle out on my surfboard and into the waves.

Whether I am painting or photographing family portraits, wildlife, pets, architecture, street photography, landscape, seascapes, mountain ranges, business events, product shots, food & wine, live music, industrial production and tooling, or action sports, you will observe that I have an eye for decisive moments and a level of experience that allows each subject to be uniquely captured in surroundings of natural light, shape, movement, and stillness.
